Day one
Route: Begovitsa refuge - Yalovarnika peak - Tevno lake refuge
The evening before day one, we'll do a 1:30h hike from Yane Sandanski hotel to the Begovitsa Refuge.
The hike is fairly easy, following the banks of the Begovishka river, before ascending a short hill to the refuge.
We wake up with the sunrise and after a delicious breakfast we hike through the beautiful Begovishka valley. Before long, the peaks Popova kappa, Kuklite, Zaba and his majesty Yalovarnika, whose typical twin peaked summit, clearly dominates the landscape, are revealed before our eyes. Its northwestern slopes are steep and heavily eroded, forming extensive morraines. For a moment we hold our breath - the peak seems impossible to climb! But we won't give up!

We head for the deeply incut saddle between peak Zyba and Yalovarnika, and slowly and carefully make our way up. When we step on the summit, we are rendered speechless - at our feet, narrow gullies descend steeply, and in front of us stretches the vast Begovishka valley, whose tranquility contrasts sharply with the terrifying sheer walls of the summit. We can follow the entire length of the sharp ridge connecting Yalovarnik with Kamenitsa, and somewhere down there is nestled a beautiful secret that the two summits jealously keep watch over...

Maybe...just maybe...should we as the guide if one could climb the endless spires of this sharp alpine ridge?
Captivated by the otherworldy views, we head back to the Begovishka pass and indulge in a well-deserved rest at the Tevno lake refuge – a favorite place in the very heart of Pirin.

Day two
Route: Tevno Lake Refuge - Kamenitsa summit - Kamenishka doll peak - Yane Sandanski hotel
We get up early and go out in front of the refuge with a cup of coffee in hand to enjoy the first rays of the sun that illuminate Kamenitsa. We're eager full to stand on top of it, and soo. we start our hike. We climb to Kamenitsa and traverse its ridge all the way to Kamenishka doll.

In front of us, the entire Pirin stretches out like in the palm of our hands, and we cannot take our eyes off the surrounding peaks. We mentally walk through each of them - from Chengelchal and Hambartash, all the way to Vihren - and are already making plans for further adventures...
