Day one
Route: Vihren refuge - Muratovo Lake - Georgiiski Lakes - Sinanitsa refuge
09:00 - group meeting at Vihren Refuge. We head to Muratovo lake, from where our path continues with a steep ascent past the peak of the same name. Not long after, our efforts are rewarded - the mysterious Georgiiski Lakes reveal their beauty before us. We stop for a short rest and lunch, and enjoy their tranquility.
A hidden trail leads us further intothe cirque and we end up under the very wall of Mt. Georgiitsa (2589m.) – the highest on the Sinanitsa auxiliary ridgeline. Despite the tradition of auxiliary ridges in the mountains being named after their highest peaks, the Sinaniska ridge bears the name of the lower (2515 m) but much more beautiful peak.
We are immediately rendered breathless as soon as we catch a glimpse of the majestic and sheer north-east face of Sinanitsa! Its lead gray walls are majestically reflected in the turqoise Sinanishko lake, nestled below it. And on the shore - the emblematic Sinanitsa refuge awaits our arrival.
Day two
Route: Sinanitsa refuge - Sinanitsa peak - Momin peak - Sinanishka gate pass - Golyamo Spano Pole - Banderishka gate pass - Muratov peak - Vihren Refuge
After breakfast we head for the summit! The ascent is not easy, but every step is rewarded with a unique view of the hut and the lake, which gradually turn into tiny dots, and when we finally step on top, the whole marble ridge with its massive slopes is on display for us!
We continue to Momin Vrah and Sinanishka Gate pass, enjoying the incredible panoramas.
The trail leads us through the great almost lunar-like expanse the Golyamo Spano Pole valley, to the Bunderishka Gate pass. Here we leave our backpacks to climb the last peak of our legend – Muratov. Once again, we remain captivated by all the beauty and grandeur revealed before our eyes - the Todorka Mountains, Banderishki Cirque with its shining lakes, Georgiiski Lakes, and far away in the distance rises the silhouette of the fabulous Sinanitsa.
Speechless, we descend back to Vihren Refuge, the memory of Pirin's legends forever etched into our hearts...
