The Mountaineering course covers all the essential winter skills – clothing systems, proper crampons and ice axe technique on all terrain, moving as a rope team. All the skills to deal with terrain that is technically easy, but dangerous and where falls have very serious consequences. You will learn how to lead your less experienced friends on the critical sections of your climb. You will also learn how to prevent common mountaineering mistakes.

ITINERARY
Friday evening
Arrival and accommodation in Malovitsa refuge. Lecture on winter mountaineering - dangers, basic rules, clothing, equipment...
Saturday - Practical training
We will focus on the basics - walking with crampons and ice axes on a variety of terrain and self-arrest training. We will also learn how to make anchor points in the snow and by using the terrain. Of course, we will also test our anchors by abseiling with a harness and via improvised methods. We'll put the basics of movement into practice on snow slopes and ridges.
In the evening we'll host lectures on the Fundamentals of Avalanche Safety and Hypothermia and Frostbite.

This day dedicated to fixing ropes and proper technique for moving over snow and mixed ridges, and around large cornices.
