MOUNTAINEERING FOR BEGINNERS AND ADVANCED CLIMBERS
30 MINUTES FROM SOFIA – THE CAPITAL OF BULGARIA
Without a doubt, Sofia’s greatest treasure is Vitosha – the mountain that rises to nearly 2,300 metres above the city! Vitosha offers excellent conditions for all kinds of mountain activities, even mountaineering.
The Reznyovete peaks are the perfect place for winter mountaineering courses and plenty of practice! The quick access to the starting point, the low difficulty of the climb and the stunning panoramic views from these jagged ridges make them attractive to both beginners and more experienced climbers.
- Between 250 and 400 metres of technical alpine climbing along beautiful ridges with a variety of formations.
- A quiet, off-the-beaten-track route with panoramic views, just 30 minutes from Sofia.
- A personalised programme in a small group of a MAXIMUM of two people, suitable for beginners too
- Licensed alpine guide
- Climbing dates entirely of your choosing, including weekdays (in fact, we prefer that!).
P R O G R A M
We’ll meet in the square in the Dragalevtsi neighbourhood between 7.00 and 8.30 am on the day of the climb. We’ll check our equipment and set off for the Aleko mountain hut, which is our starting point.
Once at the hut, we’ll carry out the mandatory check of our avalanche equipment – as well as the rest of our gear – which is essential for every winter day. We’ll then head towards the upper section of the Laleto ski run and, after 20 minutes, we’ll be plunging into the alpine section of Vitosha! An approach of about an hour will take us to the base of the Reznyovete rock ridges, where the mountain will offer us a diverse range of alpine terrain to choose from – stretching above our heads are numerous snow couloirs, sharp alpine ridges, and even short technical walls! If we’re lucky, there’ll even be routes with natural alpine ice for us to enjoy!
