Musala Peak – winter hike

Date:on request (1 day)

Location:Borovets, Rila, BG

Price:94 €

If you’re a collector of mountain peaks, then you definitely have to climb the roof of the Balkans — Musala Peak!
Its exact elevation was measured in 1932 and stands at 2925.4 meters above sea level.
Although relatively easy to climb in the summer, it’s a real challenge in the winter — but our experienced guides will lead you safely to the top!
We’re waiting for you!

The group will meet in Borovets, at the lower station of the “Yastrebets” gondola lift, at 8:00 a.m. We’ll get to know each other, distribute the necessary gear, and purchase lift tickets.
We’ll begin our hike from the upper station of the lift, 2,350 meters above sea level. We’ll head toward the Bistritsa River valley, following the river to the first stop on our route — the “Musala” mountain hut. This is the highest-altitude mountain hut in Bulgaria: 2,389 m. The first building here was built way back in 1924.

Next comes the ascent along the classic winter route through the Ice Lake. All around us loom the gigantic peaks of Deno, Irechek, Aleko, Lyudmil Yankov, and, of course — Musala!

We reach the summit around noon, followed by a break and time for souvenir photos.

From here, the entire Rila, Pirin, Vitosha, Stara Planina, and the Rhodopes mountain ranges are spread out before us like the palm of your hand… A wonderful and boundless mountain paradise at the top of the Balkan Peninsula!

The return to the starting point follows the same route, again via the “Yastrebets” lift.
