The Rhodopes are the largest mountain range in Bulgaria and the birthplace of the mythical poet Orpheus. Different cultures and religions coexist here, and the mountain is known as one of the most mystical places in the Balkans.
We invite you on a one-day trip to the Rhodopes, where we will see one of the treasures of the mountain – the Wonderful Bridges, and pass through the attractive Tsirikova Tsarkva canyon.
Are you coming with us?
Transfer from Plovdiv directly (1.5 hours) to the Wonderful Bridges – huge marble arches, carved out by the river over thousands of years. A long time ago, there was a cave here whose roof collapsed. We will take a light and pleasant walk around this geological phenomenon to take photos and enjoy the beautiful views.
Then we will set off on a trek through centuries-old spruce forests to the peak of Tsirikova Tsarkva (1,738 m). ‘Tsarkva’ means church in Bulgarian and in fact there is a small church up there. The descent from the peak passes through a narrow and extremely attractive canyon. This is the most exciting part of our adventure!
On the way back, we can stop for lunch at the cozy Kabata hut. Then we return to the Wonderful Bridges, from where we depart for Plovdiv.
